The Department of "Automatics and Electronics" is a newly formed department within the structure of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation following a decision of the Academic Council on 07th February, 2024. It unites the currently existing "Automatics and Mechatronics" and "Electronics" departments.
At its creation in 1973 "Automatics and Mechatronics" department was called "Production Automation" and was training and profiling for the new specialty "Production Automation" at the Higher Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture. In 1994, by decision of the Academic Council, the "Production Automation" department was renamed the "Automation" department, and in 1997 - in "Automation, information and control technology". Since 2012 the successor of the "Automation, Information and Control Technology" department is the "Automation and Mechatronics" department.
